The Lagos State chapter of the Performing Musicians’ Association of Nigeria, PMAN, has joined the call for the release of the 200 schoolgirls abducted from a secondary school in Chibok, Borno State as well as end the spate of insurgency in some parts of the country with the staging of peace concerts to strengthen the campaign.
In a statement issued by the Governor-General of the musicians’ body, Sir Kareem Ayinde Olomide Osoba a.k.a. Kabiyesi, the musical concerts will be held in some designated spots in the state, with emphasis on peace to return to Nigeria.
“We as musicians also feel the pains of parents of the abducted girls as well of families of blast victims in the northern part of the country and as such considered it necessary to use the only weapon we have, which is music, as our contribution to call for an end to the raging issue of instability and insecurity presently plaguing the country,” the PMAN chief explained.
He added that the flag off of the show is slated for Kabiyesi Hotel and Night Club located at Commercial Avenue, Sabo, Yaba, Lagos on Thursday with his fuji band while venues of other shows, according to him, will be announced later.
He also disclosed that proceeds from the shows will be spent on rehabilitation of the girls as soon as they are released.
