The Federal Polytechnic, Petitions IG Over Planned Attack

The Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Mahammed Dahiru Abubakar, over plans by some people to attack the institution.

The petitioned signed by the Chief Security Officer (CS0) of the institution, Mr. Emeka Eze, alleged  that “one Mr. Okonkwo Okom and his cohorts have been working hard to frustrate the good intention of the management by causing mayhem in the polytechnic”.

“Okom,  who is President-General of Oko Peoples’ Union (OPU) and former member of the Anambra State House of Assembly as well as the traditional ruler of the town, Igwe Laz. Ekwueme and one Cyprian Madu  boasted  to openly deal with the  management of the polytechnic, claiming that they ought to have been consulted to make input on the membership of the Governing Council,’’he said.

The CSO said in the petition that Okom and his people were also instigating the students to protest against the transfer of some of their colleagues to Ufuma campus and the introduction of computerised examination aimed at stamping out malpractice.
The polytechnic management urged the IGP to check the threat.
